Victorian and Edwardian Photographs
The Roger Vaughan Photograph Collection
The latest additions to my collection of Victorian & Edwardian
Photographs, History Pages, Prints, Paintings and Picture Library.
Sending me emails - I am sorry but I am afraid it is just impossible for me to answer everyones questions about their old photographs, and their dates, as I have very limited time now.
This is the New Blueyonder Main Site
All the links on here will be updated - the old freeserve, waitrose and freeuk have been abandoned
I have photos on Rootsweb ... you may find your way back to my Main Blueyonder Homepage via a link at the bottom of the Rootsweb homepage.
Happy New Year 2013
I may move this site later this year, keep checking out this page for details - when I know! Thanks for your many kind emails about this site last year.

If there is any interest I am thinking of setting this up again as a Picture Library, late this year or next, where high quality scans of my images may be bought from me for use in private or commercial projects. Any interest?

No changes to the site since April 2012, when a vast amount was done. Should you have a use for my images in any project please email me first
and discuss how you will use the image, say how many will be printed, local or worldwide use, on a sold CD, educational use, book illustration, web use or whatever.

I have been re-scanning at a large size PL32 and PL51, and as I have them ready, added six Victorian ladies displayed on one page (did have to reduce them by half to get them on one page!)
but they look good, and I have added detailed descriptions.

Freeserve Cloned Page
21 January 2012
Changed most of the links on my old freeserve site to go to the new Blueyonder pages,
and improved a few more links and pages on here. If you read this do make a comment in the Guestbook above
14th January 2012
As far as I can tell the website is ready to use, vast amounts of pages have been moved to blueyonder or rootsweb and linked via Blueyonder,
many broken links have been fixed, I have removed most of the 'open in new window' code, except where you leave the main site, a search engine added and updated, date a photo fixed, the huge A-Z page links fixed, so nothing should now point to my old sites
of waitrose, tesco, freeuk or freeserve, all of their content has been moved here. This means for the first time in years I can now easily get at the pages and update them!
I will in time put links on my old sites pointing them here, but as they are still working I will leave them much as they are. Tesco will be turned off at the end of January,
the rest depend on me dialing up once every 30 days, as I have been doing for 14 years! The Blueyonder site is not depending on any such restriction so will survive for some time.
Have I got more to add? well yes, the last six years of collecting! Or is this enough?
10th January 2012
I have now copied just about all my pages and photos to
Blueyonder but still loads of broken links on
pages to fix, now run out of space at Blueyonder so putting the rest at
Rootsweb and linking to them here.
I still have to redo the date a photo pages on Blueyonder etc.
If you are reading this... do you like the old freeserve design or my new Blueyonder ?
please let me know on my Guestbook
6th January 2012
Vast amounts of pages moved from my other sites to Blueyonder, loads of fixing links and cleaning up pages to do, but getting there!
2nd January 2012
After many hours of work I have now moved all the ex-tesco.com pages that could be lost
to Blueyonder, and fixed all the other links as far as I can find them.
This does mean that webmasters who link to my site will have to change their links too - sorry! Please consider the Blueyonder site as my new main site
Important changes to this site in 2012
After more than ten years of hosting a quarter of my site, and many thanks to Tesco for that, Tesco.com are closing the free web space that
came with the antiquated dial-up service. This means that I have until the end of January 2012 to rescue the pages stored there, a total of
about 30 MB of photos and pages, not a lot in modern terms but many of my photos are about 40KB each!
To make things harder my pages at Freeuk though still there, cannot be refreshed anymore, so any Tesco.com crosslinking I have done cannot be fixed.
So sorry some parts of the site will fail.
What I hope to do is to rescue the pages and place them elsewhere, I have made a start by putting the
Maddy Album, so important because of its excellent dated 1860s
photos on Blueyonder Maddy
Please visit this page in future to see what I have put together.
On TV
On BBC2 Tuesday 22 March 2011 at 5.15 pm Roger Vaughan made an appearance on the Antiques programme 'Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is'.
I will be buying a Victorian photograph album from Kate Bliss, filmed at Gloucester Docks - my 15 seconds of fame!
I was on the second half of the programme, as the two 'stars' have to buy the objects from a car boot sale first, then sell to people they have found, Kate found me from this Victorian photograph website.
New Site
I expect to start a new business site soon, (well 2013 probably, when I retire!) it will take time to set up, find suitable web space, and think of a memorable available web address, it will run alongside this site which I hope to keep running as it is. The new site will be for those wishing to purchase the reproducion of images for any commercial use, book covers, educational video, TV etc.
Sending me emails
I am sorry but I am afraid it is just impossible for me to answer everyones questions about their old photographs and their dates, even more impossible is for me to tell you who it is in the photo, please use the date a photo on my main website, everything I know is there.
Victorian and Edwardian Photographs Hint: if you are stuck then you probably have one of the numerous copies made years later, (mist around the edges, small head in a big frame, blurry image)
Please enjoy my sites, it took more years than I can say to create!
Oh yes! this site got a review in the BBC 'Who do you think you are?' magazine as the best website for dating your old photographs, in the April 2010 issue, not bad for something I produced at home!
Please note that there is a guestbook at the bottom of my main page (link above) if you wish to comment.
Roger Vaughan 23 July 2010.
