The Roman Baths, Bath, England, UK. An early photograph showing the remains before renovation - date not stated but people dressed possibly for the 1880s/90s. Sign on the wall says York Street, sign 'Billiards'. A uniform warder stands ready. The lady with a bustle dress has left her box of books on the chair and gone to look at something, while the photographer takes the photograph. The victorians would have considered these Romantic Ruins. [photo: albumen print, creased and damaged - could be restored if required]. [137KB]
